What Is Dating Violence & How To Deal With It?
By Mike Tramp
Dating can truly be a wonderful and rewarding experience for two people. However, when the situation begins to turn ugly it cannot ever be something that can be special again. At least not until the problem is on resolve and out of the lives of the two specific people who are involved in the story. What is dating violence? Dating violence involves three different types of individual abuse per se. The three types of personal attack that can go on between two people in a dating relationship include sexual, physical, and psychological. Dating violence occurs when one of the partners in said relationship openly tries to hurt the other partner intentionally and on purpose.
Dating violence can destroy a promising relationship almost as fast as any other real crisis that can create a gap between two people who were once very deeply in love. This can happen to anyone and everyone regardless of age, race, and background. The presence of violence or threat of violence is not a good thing and must not happen to a man or woman who is in the confines of a dating relationship or while still courting each other. Any form of abuse that is associated with dating violence is very serious problem and needs to be resolved at the first signs of it. It is the early warning signs that one should take into account and pay close attention to. Because if your date or someone you see regularly starts to change for no reason. This is an indication that something is wrong.
Some of the early warning signs of dating violence can include:
Person exhibits uncontrollable jealousy
Mood swings that show up at anytime
Anger that is out of control
Behavior that is visibly controlling in nature
He or she stops the other from seeing their family and friends.
These are only a few of the classic warning signs that dating violence is about to happen to someone who is in a dating relationship. If your boyfriend, girlfriend, or date begins to show some of these signs, it is up to you to nip things in the bud or just break it off. The more you let someone exhibit any warning signs of what is to come over you it is like playing Russian roulette with a loaded gun. Eventually the gun will go off and someone will end up hurt or dead in some cases.
How do you deal with dating violence personally? Since dating violence is subject to escalate, as the relationship gets more serious. The man or woman who is experiencing any form of abuse needs to end the cycle of continual abuse by the following:
The first step is to end the relationship and breakup with said abuser. Meet him or her in a public place and do not go alone.
Get some sort of support system going for yourself
Also file for a protective order or restraining order if necessary. These are the most important things you should look out for when dating.
